The queen of pop Madonna has kicked off her "Sticky & Sweet" world tour at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff on Saturday, armed with three racks of clothing, a small mountain of diamonds, and a retinue large enough to fill a passenger jet.

It's the latest test of her enduring appeal just a week after her 50th birthday. Her two-hour concert included eight costume changes, 16 dancers and almost $2 million worth of Swarovski crystals.
Pharrell Williams and Kanye West, who’s featured on her latest album “Hard Candy”, appeared in video clips, as did pop princess Britney Spears. In the concert vid, Brit whispers the lines “express yourself, don’t repress yourself” and it ends with her saying, “It’s Britney, bitch.”
Her husband, film director Guy Ritchie, and children Lourdes, Rocco and David were in the audience of 40,000 strong. More photos after the jump
