Our famous Aussie photographers, Paul Freeman, has left the shores of Bondi for the mighty Australian bush – a land of cowboys, drovers, shearers and farm-hands. AXN magazine September issue presents a sensuous selection of images from his new photobook, simply titled "Outback."

This extraordinary body of work, set in a variously tough and gorgeously colored landscape, often evokes Australia’s pioneering past with sepia toning, ageing of images and a carefully controlled color palette of muted burnt yellows and reds reminiscent both of nineteenth century Australian impressionism and of early hand-painted photos.

Outback is released in Australia in August, and the rest of the world September 2008. We have a few more images after the jump.
