West Hollywood stepped up to the political plate and took a few swings this year, beginning the parade with a first-ever news conference where three mayors (WeHo Mayor Abbe Land, LA Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom), a passel of elected officials gay and straight and gay community leaders took hard swipes at the Obama Administration and a state that would deny its fellow citizens the right to marry.
